All sessions are expected to be approximately 65-75 minutes subject to age group.

  • Please have the players come prepared with inflated ball, shin-guards, as well as water/fluids accordingly.
  • Would suggest that players/parents arrive at least 15 to 20 minutes early in order to check-in, get a try-out number, etc.
  • It is important that players do NOT WEAR their GISC travel uniforms/shirts.
  • Players are required to attend at least one Tryout day, but we strongly encourage you to participate in both.
  • For players that are considering “playing up” an age group, they should still register based on their appropriate birth year group. You will have opportunity to note your interest in playing up at time of registration. These players should plan to participate in tryout sessions for both age groups and should discuss their interest with the travel coordinator prior to the start of their session.

  • Refer to the Age Group Matrix for specifics.
  • Online registration before the Try-out dates is preferred, but walk-up's accepted in person the day of tryouts.
  • A REQUIRED parents meeting will be held for each age group session during the first 15-20 minutes of the session. Required even for returning travel player parents.

If you are a player/parent new to either Grand Island Travel Soccer, or the Buffalo Western new York Soccer League, here's some additional information for your quick reference - as you consider travel soccer this year.

    • Travel Soccer teams play competitive games with teams from other towns in WNY. It is more competitive, scores and standings are recorded (but not the U-10 teams). Teams are gender specific.
    • Travel team players are chosen at the Try-outs in August/September; usually (2) try-out sessions per age group.
    • Note, you must attend at least one try-out to be considered for a Grand Island Travel team. However, you are encouraged to attend all try-out sessions.
    • The Grand Island Soccer Club tries to put together as many teams as appropriate - subject to what we have both coaches and competitive players available for – usually 1 (in some cases, 2) team per age group with similar skilled players together.
    • The registration fee will fluctuate from year to year, but you can assume at approximately $160 (+/-).
    • Note - this is paid online during Online Registration or at the Try-out Registration table prior to your try-out time.
    • In the event that the player does not roster with a GISC travel team after the try-out/team selection/acceptance process, this fee shall be refunded accordingly.
  • Additional information on GISC travel and other items is available on our FAQ page.
  • Also, more information on the Buffalo Western New York Soccer League that GISC participates in along with 30+ other travel soccer clubs is available at their website,

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to the different members of the club/board with any questions.

It is the club's goal to accommodate the best combination of teams that we can coordinate, with regards to players, coaches and age group/league divisions.

Thank you – we look forward to seeing you on the try-out fields!
