GRAND ISLAND SOCCER CLUB - YOUTH PROTECTION
Youth Protection, Otherwise Known As Risk Management, Exists To Protect The Players, Volunteer Coaches, The Administration, And The Organization
WHAT IS YOUTH PROTECTION / RISK MANAGEMENT?
The Grand Island Soccer Club’s Risk Management program is modeled after the US Youth Soccer KIDSAFE program and monitored by the New York State West Youth Soccer Association (NYSWYSA).
Risk Management is a program designed to promote the welfare of youth players and to protect volunteer coaches, program administrators and the organization.
Grand Island Soccer Club and NYSWYSA will make every reasonable effort through its Risk Management program to exclude from program responsibilities (not to be confused with parental responsibilities affecting their own child) any adult with a legally documented history of child molestation or other record that would bring an unnecessary risk to the health and safety of the program’s participants.
Parents should expect that participation in youth sports will help their children develop emotionally, socially and physically. These benefits occasionally are overshadowed by the damaging behavior of adults. Our Risk Management program is designed to eliminate this kind of damaging behavior.
All inappropriate adult actions should be reported to GISC Risk Management and the GISC Board Of Directors. The reports are confidential. The adult actions in question will be taken seriously.
In most instances of child exploitation, parents hesitate to act. Too often parents second guess themselves or fear that speaking up will have a negative impact on their child’s participation. But sideline suspicions and gossip are destructive and do not address the issue. Parents must speak up when they have concerns.
REMEMBER:
No Program, Rule or Policy can replace a proactive parent!
